After the design is finished it is time to code the web site.

A "static" web site uses HTML code to display the content of a page in a web-browser and CSS for the styling of the page.

Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a group of interrelated web development techniques used on the client-side to create interactive web applications. A method for exchanging data asynchronously between browser and server, to avoid page reloads.

A "dynamic" web site uses some additional server side language like Coldfusion, ASP, ASP.NET, Perl PHP etc.

The dynamic web site is good if you want to change the information frequently or use a database to store the information in. There are several different databases too but one of the most popular combinations for "dynamic" web sites is PHP / MySQL.

Flash (uses a plug-in) is handy for showing animations and video on the web.

We focus on the following technologies:

HTML, CSS, Ajax, PHP /MySQL and Flash

Dynamic web site with database

The picture below shows a typical setup for a dynamic web site using PHP as server language and a MySQL database.

The user (client) types in the web site name in the browser which makes a request to the server, the server process the PHP code and sends a SQL to the database to get the requested data from the database, the data is sent back to the server which processes the data and puts the results in the right places on the page before it is sent to the browser as HTML code which the browser can display.
